Pseudoscorpion In My Bed

Really.... I found one in my bed, and it creeped me out bad. Then I gained the stomach and killed it!
Only after killing the little guy did I look up what it was and discovered that they are a good thing to have. Opps!
A pseudoscorpion, (also known as a false scorpion or book scorpion), is an arachnid belonging to the order Pseudoscorpionida, also known as Pseudoscorpiones or Chelonethida.

Pseudoscorpions are generally beneficial to humans since they prey on clothes moth larvae, carpet beetle larvae, booklice, ants, mites, and small flies. They are small and inoffensive, and are rarely seen due to their size. Source here

Well, at least it was on Ashley's side of the bed and not mine, he sleeps the closest to the book shelf.

A Dog with Style

I don't post much or really anything that I make on my family blog. I thought I would show off my mad skills on drafting patterns with a dog shirt and this has not posted yet on my craft blog so it is extra special.
This poor little doggie will need some extra warmth this Fall/Winter so I have drafted her her very own dog shirt/coat patterns to make her some clothes.
In no way am I going to go over board she just needs something extra for when it gets cold. I am not one of those crazy people that puts tutus on their dogs and parades them around town.

Because sometimes it takes another....

Because sometimes it takes another fracture to put you in your place. This is what was going through my head two weeks ago when I asked myself "Why is it when I feel great and like I could take on the world I always fall off my cloud with a thud". NO, it was not my wrist...and yes I am fine. I can say I had a real fun 4th of July, even with out the fireworks. While away on vacation I thought I had jammed one of the bones in my foot by walking into a hidden tent stake. I realized that night that it did not feel like a stub or jam it felt more like a fracture and I was in some pain. The next day my foot was fat, a bruise appeared, and it really hurt to walk on it. I had to wait the whole weekend to come home and see a doctor in our town and get x-rays done. The doc said it looked and sounded like a fracture on my forth left metatarsal. The x-rays did not show the fracture BUT, he said that the hospital has been wrong the last 3 times I have had x-rays and that I know my body better than anyone else does. So, the verdict was fractures left metatarsal. There was not much he could do but to tell me to ice, elevate and wear stiff soled shoes when I need to get around. The pain is subsiding and is being replaced by tingling and tickly sensations that are driving me crazy, so it must be healing. Doc told me a few times that if it was not feeling better that he would have no problem referring me to a podiatrist, I think it is healing alright on its own.

Thats what I have been up to here as of late!

Up Grade

Do you like the new Blogger up grade, I do not. nothing works the way it should. I find myself saving posts in the new blogger and converting to the old to tweak pic, font, alignment, and spell check. I want to be able to do this stuff with out all the fuss. Okay, I'm done with my soap box!

Restaurant bans kids under 6. Discrimination or smart move?

At McDain's Restaurant, in Monroeville, Pennsylvania, kids don't eat free. And starting next week, they don't get to eat at all. Mike Vuick, owner of the Pittsburgh area eatery has just announced a ban on children under 6 at his casual dining establishment.

After receiving noise complaints from customers about crying kids at neighboring tables, Vuick decided to institute the policy, which will go into effect July 16.

In an email to customers, Vuick explained: "We feel that McDain's is not a place for young children. Their volume can't be controlled and many, many times, they have disturbed other customers."

The owner of the "upscale, casual and quiet" restaurant explains to WTAE Local News, he's got nothing against kids in general, but their endless screams at public dinner tables are "the height of being impolite and selfish."

Last year, North Carolina's Olde Salty restaurant made a similar decision. Owner Brenda Armes posted a sign that read "Screaming children will not be tolerated", making it clear to parents when their kids scream, they'll be asked to take it outside. Armes said the move has boosted business, and Vuick is confident his ban will benefit McDain's as well.

But not everyone is on board. Some Monroeville locals are offended that they're being singled out for having young kids, and pointing fingers at noisy adults.

"If they're so concerned about noise, what do they plan to do about the loud people at the bar?" asks one local resident.

It's not illegal to ban kids from eating establishments, but some parents consider the move discriminatory, and potentially a violation of rights for certain special needs kids. What do you think: are kid-free restaurants a great idea or flat-out wrong?

Original article from here

First off I LOVE my kids but, I had fun reading this, why, because I agree with it 100%. Of course it would mean that half of my kids could not go into a restaurant. This is a up scale place with a "bar" and really do parents think that a place like this is one for kids younger than 12, I don't. Yes, I agree only because I have been on the other shoe even with my kids with me and have heard other peoples kids scream and cause such a scene. I think that it is nice to sit aside a few places where kids are not allowed.
